Why CAD?

Welcome to CADBaazi!!

In this we are going to discuss what is CAD and why is it important for engineers, mostly for mechanical and civil one's ('cause we also need something to do on PCs πŸ˜›).

So, for the viewers who are new to the term CAD, we should start with what is CAD. CAD is Computer-Aided Design. It is the use of computer softwares for making 2-D and 3-D models of almost anything that is used by the inhabitants of this planet in their everyday life. Some of the CAD softwares are AutocadCatiaSolidworks and many more. Another major use of these softwares is simulation.Whether it be force simulation or motion simulation, it can easily be performed on these.
So, this was all about CAD and it's uses. Now, let's discuss about the major impact of CAD in the industry.

Let's just assume that you have to make a bridge across a big river for light and heavy vehicles. Now go back to the time when there was no CAD. What would you have done?
You would have taken a pencilan A-3 sheetsome ten kinds of pencils, a pretty big scale or a drafter and some other drawing stuff. You would have started drawing the design of the bridge. Then you would have drawn its various angles, then you would have performed some force analysis about how much weight it can bear according to a given material and all of the technical and mathematical stuff. Seems tiring, right?
Now, imagine all of this done on a computer, the amount of time saved is pretty big. One of the major importance is that it saves human effort to a large extent.

Jumping to today's world, CAD drawings are used by many manufacturers for their products. Although, these drawings are part of the design process but they hold equal importance for the manufacturer as much as they hold for the designer.

So, in today's world CAD has gained huge importance not only in the manufacturing sector but also in electronics, aerospace and other sectors. In short, CAD has revolutionized the designing and manufacturing process!

Now if you have reached till here, just one last line, Thank You very much for reading this post and do spread this blog to spread CAD awareness among your fellow colleagues.

Also in the end it does matter!!
